Clinical/Practicum Coordinator Placement Specialist

Morningside University is accepting applications for the full-time 12-month position of Clinical/Practicum Coordinator Placement Specialist in the Nylen School of Nursing. The Clinical/Practicum Placement Specialist will form relationships with healthcare facilities across the nation where students will acquire experiential learning in selected clinical sites. This role is also responsible for verification of placement sites; management of Affiliation Agreement requirements between Morningside University and healthcare facilities; and the maintenance of associated student clinical/practicum compliance requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure that student placement met the health care facilities’ requirements, the Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 2, accreditation standards and program outcomes
  • Manage aspects of clinical/practicum placement for students enrolled in nursing programs in consultation with faculty, coordinators, and administrative staff.
  • Develop new partnerships and maintain relationships with health care facilities across the nation where appropriate
  • Acts as a liaison to interpret and match needs of students and faculty to health care facilities
  • Create strategies for long term placement relationships with cooperating health care facilities
  • Utilizes appropriate placement technologies and training
  • Review the quality and appropriateness of clinical/practicum sites in collaboration with faculty and NP coordinator
  • Provide exceptional service to students and health care members throughout the placement cycle

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing preferred
  • Active unencumbered Iowa RN license and other states as appropriate
  • Maintaining certification as appropriate
  • Practice experience in the role of an RN
  • Strong sense of organizational systems management and focus on providing excellent service to students and health care members
  • Ability to communicate effectively, display organizational and coordination skills, and serve as a professional role model
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
