GET A HEAD START ON YOUR EDUCATION

Morningside University is pleased to offers three programs designed to support area high schools and provide outstanding high school students with opportunities to accelerate their education. Under both the Senior Scholar and Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) programs, students can receive credit toward their high school diploma while also earning college credits that are transferable. With the Jump Start Program, students who complete their high school coursework in December can take classes before enrolling full-time in the fall. All of these programs are designed to build on the excellent foundation established by the high schools in Sioux City and the immediate surrounding area.

OPTIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Act (PSEO)

*Iowa Students Only

The PSEO program affords high school students the opportunity to take college courses at Morningside at no charge with approval from their high school.

Provisions of the program:

  • May register for up to 8 credits in the fall and 8 credits in the spring.
  • Must come to the college in person to register for the courses.
  • Music private lessons are excluded from the PSEO program.
  • May purchase books at the bookstore and may charge them to the student account. All course fees (art, travel, etc.) will be billed to the student account.

Senior Scholar Program

The Senior Scholar Program is available to outstanding seniors attending area high schools who wish to take courses at the college level.

Provisions of the program:

  • Must be a high school senior and verify a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • May register for up to 8 credits in the fall and 8 credits in the spring.
  • Senior Scholars pay a $50 processing fee at the time of registration.
  • May purchase books at the bookstore and may charge them to the student account. All course fees (art, travel, etc.) will be billed to the student account.
  • Music private lessons are excluded from the Senior Scholar Program.
  • Must come to the college in person to register for the course(s).

Jump Start Program

The Morningside Jump Start Program is designed for students who complete their high school coursework in December and intend to enroll in college as a full-time student in the fall. This program will allow students the opportunity to take up to 8 credit hours at Morningside in the Spring semester at an incredibly discounted rate.

Provisions of the program:

  • Students must apply and be admitted to Morningside
  • Applicants may register for up to 8 credits in the spring semester.
  • Applicants must pay a $250 registration fee at the time of registration.
  • Music private lessons are excluded from the Jump Start Program.
  • Applicants may purchase books at the bookstore and may charge them to their student account. All course fees (art, travel, etc.) will be billed to the student account.
  • Applicants can register for their course no earlier than the Monday following Thanksgiving.
