PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Morningside University is excited to announce the launch of a new Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS/Drone) minor within its School of Agriculture and Aviation, a forward-thinking addition to meet the rising demand for precision agriculture and cutting-edge drone technology. This program is designed to equip students with specialized knowledge in uncrewed aerial systems operation, data management, and regulatory compliance, addressing the expanding role of technology in sustainable and efficient agricultural practices.

Morningside University’s Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (Drone) minor prepares students to use cutting-edge drone technology in agriculture and other growing industries. Through hands-on experience with precision agriculture, mapping, scouting, and data collection, you’ll gain practical skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s technology-driven agricultural workforce.

You'll have access to our 3,300 square-foot state-of-the-art greenhouse, the 76-acre Lags Farm, the campus garden, Cargill Outdoor Classroom, and more to give you hands on experience outside the classroom preparing you for success.

Externship Program

Our externship program allows you to participate in a paid, semester-long externship in Sioux City, greater Iowa or beyond and work side-by-side with management and production teams doing real agriculture in the real world.

Regional Partnerships

We have partnered with Oracle Aviation out of Omaha, NE and the Sioux City Gateway Airport to ensure you'll receive hands on experiences.

REGINA ROTH APPLIED AG & FOOD STUDIES

As a Regina Roth Agricultural and Food Studies student, you’ll learn how different agricultural production and business systems affect crop yields, agribusiness and farm profitability, soil health, and models of long-term sustainability.  You’ll also have access to our state-of-the-art facilities giving you hands-on experience for the real world.
