Sioux City, IA – The Iowa Farm Bureau strongly supports agricultural education across the state. They understand the role educators play in preparing the next generation to be active, informed members of the food supply chain. Recently, the Monona County Farm Bureau received funding through the “Working Here” Grant sponsored by Farm Credit Services to purchase $2,500 worth of equipment and power tools. Students in the Morningside University Ag Education program will use this equipment to build benches and other items for the Monona County Fairgrounds. By building these benches, Ag Ed students will gain valuable hands-on experience as they prepare for their careers. The equipment will also give students opportunities to conduct workshops on campus. These workshops will give agricultural education students concrete opportunities to strengthen their teaching skills, while participants gain valuable experience with tools they may encounter in the future.
