Morningside University’s location in Sioux City gives students ample opportunity for internships at network-affiliated television stations, radio stations, newspapers, advertising or public relations firms, and many more.

Research & Active Learning

The Communication program is home to a student-run radio station, video streaming channel, and online news source that both majors and non-majors can take part in to build experience.

Travel

You will have the opportunity to travel regionally, nationally, and even internationally for professional conferences, industry field trips, or May Term courses. Travel grants and special scholarship eligibility may be available.

REQUIRED

Students in these classes will enhance their skills in creating quality audio & video projects, building a resume of experiences businesses rely upon for marketing and promotions.

REQUIRED

Principles and practice of public relations in commercial and non-commercial fields; publicity and promotion campaigns emphasized.

ELECTIVE

Theory and practice of rhetoric used in professional settings from creating reports, writing proposals, and generating grants.

Students in this class spend at least a semester actively running all campus media from KMSC Radio to the Collegian Reporter to Mustang TV on YouTube. Each student focuses on their skills/abilities to create a portfolio designed to help them with internships and job opportunities.

Campus Media

Campus Media is Morningside’s student-run media organization. Students have the opportunity to express themselves and share their interests through campus news coverage, sports reporting, radio shows, writing, and more.
