Larry Brockshus is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel with 27 years of active-duty service and extensive experience in aviation operations, leadership, and education. He completed undergraduate pilot training in the T-37 and T-38 aircraft and spent the majority of his flying career as a command pilot in the KC-135 aerial refueling community.
Over his career, Larry accumulated nearly 5,000 flight hours, including more than 1,600 hours as a flight instructor. He commanded the 909th Air Refueling Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan, leading over 300 personnel and managing a $17 million flight program supporting global operations across the Pacific. His assignments also included senior operational roles at Air Mobility Command headquarters and the Pentagon, where he supported Air Force mobilization and worldwide tanker and airlift operations.
Following Air Force retirement, Larry transitioned into aviation education, serving for sixteen years as a Senior Aerospace Science Instructor with Air Force JROTC. He mentored more than 1,500 cadets and taught aviation ground school and the science of flight, achieving a perfect student pass rate on FAA written exams. He also continued to support the Civil Air Patrol as a safety officer and instructor pilot.
At Morningside University, Larry serves as an Assistant Professor of Aviation, bringing deep expertise in flight operations, aviation safety, human factors, and aerospace education, along with a strong commitment to mentoring future aviation professionals.
