Education Initial Licensure Programs

A teacher listens as a student talks in class.

The Sharon Walker School of Education at Morningside University offers three online programs for career changers with bachelor’s degrees interested in becoming a licensed teacher and earning a Master of Arts in Teaching simultaneously.

Master of Arts in Teaching: Secondary Education

Morningside is fortunate to offer one of the only programs in the state that allows you to use your existing bachelor’s degree in an endorsable area (ie. Biology, English, family, and consumer science) to become a teacher in an Iowa middle or high school in two years. The program is offered online with some on-campus attendance requirements. This is a great option for anyone looking for a career change and wishing to help shape the future by becoming an educator.
