Through the management major, you have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of business management. The curriculum offers a comprehensive overview of all the components of business operations and management, allowing you to gain knowledge and skills that will make you highly marketable in nearly any job or occupation. Travel

You will have the opportunity to travel regionally, nationally, and even internationally for professional conferences, industry field trips, or May Term courses. Travel grants and special scholarship eligibility may be available.

Research & Active Learning

Conducting research alongside faculty members, gives you an advantage for graduate school or immediate entry into the agricultural industry. You may also have the opportunity to present findings at the Morningside University Palmer Research Symposium, the Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP), or at regional and national industry events.

FEATURED COURSES

OPTIONAL

Students will take a multi-disciplinary approach to understanding individual behavior within organizations, including team and group behavior. Topics examined will include motivation, change management, organizational communication, groups and teams, negotiation and conflict, and leadership. Change management is extensively covered within an organizational change strategy context.

OPTIONAL

This course will introduce students to the role of data, strategies to answer questions utilizing data, and analyze cases in which data helped the business make better (or worse) decisions. This course will introduce students to basic statistical techniques, data visualizations, database & spreadsheet techniques, and key takeaways to understand the role of business analytics in today’s world. Students will be able to identify key aspects of qualitative and quantitative data, the relevance in data, business intelligence tools, ethical and legal implications of data analysis and data integrity. Students will apply course knowledge to build their own data visualizations, showing data validity, and present their findings behind multiple data sources in practical applications.

OPTIONAL

Students will examine foreign countries in detail to determine suitability for investment and business opportunities. Along with seeking out profit opportunities, students will gain an appreciation of private enterprise social responsibilities in the international business landscape.

REQUIRED

Students will be introduced to strategic planning and management theories and then apply the theories to real-world planning challenges. Students will not only do individual research during the course but will contribute to an integrated planning document. Students will present their research through a formal paper and presentation.
