Buhler Outdoor Performance Center

This stage is located on the edge of Morningside’s Hilker Campus Mall, near the MacCollin Classroom Building and just northwest of Buhler Rohlfs Hall. Morningside Activities Council, campus ministry, and community organizations host events in this space throughout the year.

Earth Mirrors

A commissioned work by Andrea Stanislav, this public sculpture consists of 10 Iowa limestone elements that are faceted with mirror polished stainless steel. Arrayed in a triangular formation with the apex of the sculpture directed toward the campus green, the sculpture connects Eppley Fine Arts Building with the larger campus. Viewers are invited to engage in a silent dialogue, mediated by light and reflection, to look into the reflective surfaces of the sculptures.

Eugene C. Eppley Fine Arts Building

Built in 1966, Eppley is regarded as “one of the finest music and arts facilities in the Midwest.” The facility features an auditorium and art galleries and hosts numerous campus and community performances each year.

Eppley Auditorium

This 1200-seat auditorium is the crown jewel for performing arts at Morningside. It is noted for its acoustical qualities and is home to the majestic Sanford Memorial Organ.

Helen Levitt Gallery

The Helen Levitt Art Gallery adjoins Eppley Auditorium and is home to the Levitt art collection that includes work by internationally famous artists. This million-dollar collection includes works by Tamayo, Rauschenberg, Johns, Frankenthaler, Nevelson, Motherwell, Miro, and Hockney. This gallery also becomes home to different events, including Morningside’s publication party for our nationally awarded annual magazine Kiosk.

Klinger-Neal Theatre

Klinger-Neal Theatre offers a 300-seat auditorium perfect for theatre performances, as well as speaker series’ and other performing arts. In addition to hosting campus theatre events, Morningside has also partnered with LAMB Theatre for Klinger-Neal to serve as their home and to offer additional theatre opportunities for students and the community.

Morningside Art Gallery

This space is located in the foyer of the building and leads into the Helen Levitt Gallery. It regularly features exhibitions by guest artists, students, and faculty.
