MORNINGSIDE CONCERT BAND FESTIVAL

REGISTRATION DEADLINE APRIL 4, 2025

WELCOME

Morningside University is happy to offer a Concert Band Festival Experience to all bands interested. The festival is educationally focused and will provide bands with constructive and actionable feedback by experienced adjudicators as well as a short clinic as bands prepare for their home district large group contests. Band will be allotted 35 minutes on stage (20 minutes for performance and 15 minutes for live clinic) and will be provided written and verbal comments from two additional adjudicators).

Performances are open to the public and the Morningside Wind Ensemble will perform mid-day.

Concessions will be available on site.

Overview

  • Registration due by April 4th 
  • Cost: $75 per ensemble (Invoice will be received by our music administrative assistant, Kristal Grigsby. 
  • Registrations will be processed in the order they are received and based on availability of performance times.
  • Two original (numbered) scores are required for our judges.
  • Generally speaking, the festival will follow the format of IHSMA large group contest.
  • The adjudicators scores will be averaged to determine overall rating. *View rating scale and rubric in band registration packet.

EVENT DETAILS

Arrival

  • Upon arrival, please check in at the table in the Eppley lobby and turn in any remaining paperwork (personnel/soloist forms, music selections).
  • A Morningside representative will meet your band and serve as a guide, making sure you and your band get to where they need to be and on time.
  • The upstairs lobby area has designated space for cases, backpacks, jackets, etc.
  • Bands that arrive early can store large items and rhythm section gear on the main level.

Bands should bring any additional instruments, mallets/sticks, and beaters needed for their performance

Warm-up Room (Room 100)

  • Bands will use Room 100 as a warm-up space; see the daily schedules for warm-up timing.
