Jory Vinikour, a two-time Grammy Award-nominated artist, will present a harpsichord recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Helen Levitt Art Gallery in the Eppley Fine Arts Building, 3625 Garretson Ave.
The performance is free and open to the public. The recital will include works by Handel, Bach, Rameau and Duphly.
Recognized as one of the most outstanding musicians of his generation, Vinikour has performed at the world’s most important festivals and concert halls as a recital and concerto soloist. He has collaborated with many of today’s great artists. An active supporter of contemporary repertoire for the harpsichord, he has performed premieres for several composers.
The Chicago Tribune named Vinikour’s 2001 recording of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” one of the top 10 classical CDs of the year – an honor also accorded to his recording of Bach’s “Toccatas” in 1999. His 2012 recording of “The Complete Harpsichord Works of Rameau” was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Classical Solo Instrumental Recording, an honor also accorded to his 2013 recording of “Toccatas: Modern American Music for Harpsichord.”
