Jay Welp competed in the men’s 1500-meter prelims in a shortened opening day of action at the NAIA Track & Field Outdoor National Championships.
Jay Welp, a senior from Marcus, Iowa, competed in the prelims of the men’s 1500-meter run during Thursday’s opening day of the 2015 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Welp finished ninth in his heat and 30th overall with a time of 4:15.45.
Much of Thursday’s action was postponed due to lighting and thunder storms.
The meet will resume on Friday.
