Dr. Amy Green will come to Morningside College virtually via Google Hangouts to hold an interactive discussion on video games and gamers at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in the UPS Auditorium in Lincoln Center.

Dr. Amy Green, a specialist in Shakespearean and 19th-century literature and video games, will come to Morningside College virtually via Google Hangouts to hold an interactive discussion on video games and gamers at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in the UPS Auditorium in Lincoln Center, 3627 Peters Ave.

Some popular video games have plot depth and require several hours to complete. Green has argued that video games are underestimated and can be used as a resource in college courses as a compelling narrative.

Green is an assistant professor-in-residence in the English department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As an avid gamer, she has spoken widely about her interest in video games and how to use them in classrooms, including a TED Talks video on the topic.

The event is part of Morningside’s Hickman-Johnson-Furrow Learning Center Virtual Lecture Series. The college broadcasts the lectures on campus and also streams them live at www.youtube.com/user/TheHJFLearningCenter.
