The U.S. Air Force Offutt Brass, a component of the Heartland of America Band, will perform in concert at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in Eppley Auditorium.

The U.S. Air Force Offutt Brass, a component of the Heartland of America Band, will perform in concert at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.  

The performance is free and open to the public, but tickets are required to attend. Tickets may be ordered by calling the Morningside College Music Department at 712-274-5210.

The members of Offutt Brass bring to the U.S. Air Force many years of professional experience with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, touring shows and today’s popular artists. Representing the more than 325,000 Air Force professionals around the world, Offutt Brass showcases the service’s excellence and precision in every performance.

The ensemble, composed of five brass players, a vocalist and a percussionist, presents a diverse repertoire featuring classical music, patriotic favorites, jazz standards and new compositions and arrangements. Over the years the band has received four Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards and six Air Force Organizational Excellence Awards.

Offutt Brass will perform a piece alongside the Morningside College Brass Ensemble, which is under the direction of Tony Hutchins, assistant professor of music and director of instrumental jazz at Morningside. Hutchins was a member of the Heartland of America Band from 1994 to 2000.
