Tony Hutchins, bass trombonist and director of instrumental jazz and low brass at Morningside College, will perform with pianist Dr. Jeremy Owens at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Eppley Auditorium.

Tony Hutchins, bass trombonist and director of instrumental jazz and low brass at Morningside College, will perform with pianist Dr. Jeremy Owens at Morningside College at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Eppley Auditorium, 3625 Garretson Ave.

The event is free and open to the public.

In addition to being Morningside College’s director of instrumental jazz, Hutchins is the bass trombonist for the Sioux City Symphony. He came to Morningside after serving as an instructor of trombone/euphonium at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla. He has been a member of, and soloed with, ensembles such as the United States Air Force Band. He has experience as a composer and arranger. Hutchins is a doctoral candidate in trombone performance at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.  Hutchins will be performing works by Ernst Sachse, David Fetter, Patrick McCarty, Halsey Stevens, Alex Lebedev and Frank Luther.
