Jessica Tietz has been named the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Player of the Week.

Jessica Tietz, a 6-2 senior forward from Bancroft, Neb., has been named the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Player of the Week and the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 8-14.

Tietz averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to help lead the second-ranked Mustangs to an 80-74 victory against No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan University and an 89-76 triumph against Doane. Tietz scored a game and career-high 32 points behind a 10-for-13 shooting performance from the field in the Mustangs’ win against Dakota Wesleyan in a matchup between the top two teams in the GPAC. She made six of seven floor shots and was the Mustangs’ co-scoring leader with 17 points in their win against Doane.

Tietz is the NAIA Division II national leader in field goal accuracy with 169 field goals in 267 attempts for 63.3 percent. She is the top scorer and rebounder with averages of 15.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for a Morningside team that has a 26-2 record and has already clinched the GPAC Championship with an 18-2 league mark.

Tietz is the 13th leading scorer and rebounder in Morningside history with 1291 career points and 707 career rebounds, respectively.
