Mustangs ranked 15th in the nation

Morningside is ranked 15th in the nation in the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released on February 6.

The Mustangs, 18-8, dropped two positions after they were ranked 13th in the previous poll. All eight of Morningside’s defeats are against teams ranked among the top 12 teams in the nation in the Feb. 6 NAIA II poll.

Morningside is one of five teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) ranked in the NAIA Division II Top 25. Aside from Morningside, Concordia University is ranked No. 2, Northwestern College is ninth, Dakota Wesleyan University is 10th and Hastings College is 12th.

Morningside has won four NAIA II National Championships during the Jamie Sale coaching era with NAIA II titles in 2004, 2005, 2009, and 2015. The Mustangs have posted 14 consecutive 20-win seasons and have made 15 consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Morningside will host Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
