Two history majors from Morningside College recently presented papers at the Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Phi Alpha Theta is an honor society that promotes the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians.
Nick Misukanis of Mendota Heights, Minn., presented a paper on “The Alliance that Almost Was: Frederick the Great, Prussia, and the Ottoman Empire.” Abby Hoy of Spencer, Iowa, presented a paper on “The Confederacy’s Secret Weapon: Eleanor King and the Utilization of Stereotypes in Wartime Espionage.”
