Six Morningside student-athletes were named to the college division academic-all district men’s and women’s track & field/cross country teams.

Six Morningside student-athletes were named to the 2017 College Division Academic All-District 3 Men’s and Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

As academic all-district selections, their names will go on the national ballot for the 2017 College Division Academic All-America Teams.

The Mustangs’ academic all-district selections are:

Alec DeVries, a junior distance runner from Merrill, Iowa. DeVries has a 3.62 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in history.

Jacob Green, a junior middle distance runner from Sioux Falls, S.D., who has a 3.86 cumulative GPA with majors in biology and chemistry.

Kyle Hiser, a senior distance runner from Shenandoah, Iowa, who has a 3.63 cumulative GPA with a major in biology.

Jason Kenny, a junior distance runner from Schaller, Iowa, who has a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA with a major in applied agricultural and food studies.

Michelle Mumm, a junior distance runner from Neola, Iowa, who has a 3.42 cumulative GPA with a major in biology.

Tiffany Shepherd, a senior distance runner from Corning, Iowa, who has a 3.76 cumulative GPA with a major in elementary education.

Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
