Six Morningside football players were named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Six players from the Morningside football team are 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

The Mustangs’ Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes are:

Andrew Metzger, a senior offensive lineman from Rock Rapids, Iowa, who has a 3.73 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in applied agricultural and food studies.

Seth Roberg, a senior wide receiver from Grand Island, Neb., who has a 3.75 cumulative GPA with a major in biology.

Logan Rozeboom, a senior linebacker from Hartley, Iowa, who has a 3.67 cumulative GPA with a major in biology.

Garrit Shanle, a junior offensive lineman from Columbus, Neb., who has a 3.73 cumulative GPA with a major in science teaching.

Trent Solsma, a junior quarterback from Dakota Dunes, S.D., who has a 3.72 cumulative GPA with a major in American history & world history teaching.

Spencer Wyant, a junior punter from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Wyant has a 3.61 cumulative GPA with a major in nursing.

Student-athletes must be of at least junior academic status and have a minimum GPA of 3.50 in order to be eligible for Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
