Amy Samuelson was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.

Amy Samuelson has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 3 College Division Women’s Soccer Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

As a first-team all-district selection, Samuelson’s name will go on the national ballot for the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Women’s Soccer Team.

Samuelson, a junior midfielder from Sioux City, made the Academic All-District team for the season year in a row. She has a 3.68 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in biology.

Samuelson is the Mustangs’ leading scorer with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. She is the seventh leading all-time scorer in Morningside women’s soccer history with 56 career points. Samuelson is also in seventh place in the Mustangs’ record book with 20 career goals and is 10th with 16 career assists.

Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for Capital One All-Academic honors.
