Danny Rudeen, a 6-3 senior guard from Sioux City, has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 3 College Division Men’s Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Danny Rudeen, a 6-3 senior guard from Sioux City, has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 3 College Division Men’s Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

As a first-team academic all-district selection, Rudeen’s name will be placed on the national ballot for the selection of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Team.

Rudeen has a 3.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in computer science. He was a third-team Academic All-American in 2012.

Rudeen is the Mustangs’ leading scorer and second leading rebounder with averages of 20.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He has made a team-high 57 3-point field goals in 122 attempts for 46.7 percent and has converted 118 of 135 free throw attempts for 87.4 percent to rank among the NAIA Division II national leaders in both 3-point field goal and free throw percentage.

He is the third leading scorer in Morningside history with 1,702 career points.

Student-athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for Capital One Academic honors.
