Danny Rudeen has been named to the first team of the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Men’s Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Danny Rudeen, a 6-3 senior guard from Sioux City, has been named to the first team of the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Men’s Basketball Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Rudeen has a 3.74 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with a major in computer science. He was a third-team Academic All-American in 2012.

Rudeen is the Mustangs’ leading scorer and second leading rebounder with averages of 20.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He has made a team-high 66 3-point field goals in 139 attempts for 47.5 percent and has converted 159 of 178 free throw attempts for 89.3 percent to rank among the NAIA Division II national leaders in both 3-point field goal and free throw percentage.

He is the third leading scorer in Morningside history with 1,848 career points for a career scoring average of 15.5 points per game.
Student-athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for Capital One Academic honors.
