Aaron Bunker, assistant professor of biology at Morningside College, and Jeremy Schnieder, assistant professor of writing and rhetoric at Morningside, had a paper published in the Athens Journal of Education.

The paper, “Writing Across the Curriculum in a Human Physiology Class to Build Upon and Expand Content Knowledge,” describes a writing assignment Bunker created for his Human Physiology course where he worked to incorporate writing skills taught to freshmen during their First Year Seminar. He developed the assignment with Schnieder, the director of Writing Across the Curriculum at Morningside.

“We worked very closely together to craft the writing assignment and to assess its effectiveness in improving student content knowledge and writing skills,” Bunker said. “The paper details the process we went through in crafting the assignment learning objectives, assessing its effectiveness, and provides examples of student work.”

Both Bunker and Schnieder joined the faculty at Morningside College in 2010. Bunker has a doctorate from the University of Missouri, and Schnieder has a doctorate from Bowling Green State University.
