Three Morningside College nursing professors recently gave presentations at a conference on “Creating and Sustaining Healthy Nurses: Making Personal Self-Care a Priority.”
This event was put on by the Iowa Nurses Association and the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society in the Nylen School of Nursing at Morningside College.
Lori Doeschot, Shar Georgesen and Mary Kovarna presented research and approaches to support strategies in developing self-care habits. Topics included self-awareness of eating habits, genetic influences and mindful attentiveness. The purpose was to emphasize realistic plans to improve nursing self-care, in turn helping them better assess patient needs.
