Professor is elected to leadership position in Latin American Studies Association
Patrick Blaine, assistant professor of Spanish in the Department of English and Modern Languages, was elected to the executive committee of the Film Studies section of the Latin American Studies Association.
Patrick Blaine, assistant professor of Spanish in the Department of English and Modern Languages at Morningside College, was elected to the executive committee of the Film Studies section of the Latin American Studies Association.
During his three-year term, Blaine will help publicize the activities of the section, select panels for the annual conference, and help make financial decisions for the section. The committee also works on recruitment of new members and collaboration with other organizations.
Blaine has been a professor at Morningside College for six years. He works with study abroad, film and sustainability issues at the college. He has a doctorate in comparative literature from the University of Washington.
The Latin American Studies Association is the largest group of scholars worldwide who study every aspect of Latin America, from legal studies to economics, sociology, anthropology and literature. The Film Studies section is the subset of scholars that study film from every country in Latin America.
