Heather Reid, professor of philosophy at Morningside College, recently had three articles and a book chapter published.

Reid’s first article, a commentary titled “Beyond ‘Crude Pragmatism’: Insights from C.S. Pierce, William James and John Dewey,” was published in the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching. Her second article, “Athletes as Heroes and Role Models: An Ancient Model,” appeared in Sport, Ethics and Philosophy. Her third article, “The Philosophers Return to Olympia,” was published in the International Olympic Academy Journal.

Reid also had a book chapter titled “Defining Olympic Sport” published in the book “Defining Sport: Conceptions and Borderlines,” which was edited by Shawn E. Klein for Lexington Books.

Reid is a specialist in ancient philosophy and the philosophy of sport. A member of the Morningside College faculty since 1996, she received her master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
