Nikki Oberfoell was named to the honorable mention list of the AVCA NAIA All-West Central Region Team.

Nikki Oberfoell, a 5-6 senior libero from Brighton, Colo., received honorable mention NAIA All-West Central Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Oberfoell leads the Mustangs with 534 digs for an average of 4.90 digs per set and is second on the team with 19 ace serves. Her 534 digs is the eighth highest single-season total in Morningside history and her 4.90 digs per set is the fifth highest average in the Mustangs’ record book.

Oberfoell has produced a double figure dig performance in 27 of the Mustangs’ 30 matches, including a season’s high 31 digs in a 3-2 triumph against city rival Briar Cliff University on Sept. 19.

Morningside will take an 18-12 record into this week’s NAIA Volleyball National Championship at Sioux City’s Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena. The Mustangs will begin pool play competition with an 8 p.m. match against ninth-ranked Columbia College on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
