Nikki Oberfoell is this season’s first GPAC Defensive Player of the Week

Nikki Oberfoell, a 5-6 senior libero from Brighton, Colo., is the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for August 21-27.

Oberfoell averaged 4.27 digs per set to help lead the Mustangs to a 2-2 record at last weekend’s Northwestern Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa. The Mustangs won both of their Saturday matches when Oberfoell came up with match-high totals of 21 digs against Dakota State University and 19 digs against Mayville State University. She also had a double figure performance with 16 digs in a Friday loss against ninth-ranked Corban University.

Oberfoell is averaging 4.60 digs per set through the Mustangs’ first eight matches. She had 24 digs against Vanguard University at the Hope/Vanguard Summer Slam for the Mustangs’ top individual dig total so far this season.

Morningside will take a 5-3 record into the Bellevue University Premier Labor Day Classic on Friday and Saturday in Bellevue, Neb.
