Morningside is ranked ninth in the nation in the NAIA Softball Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll released on Jan. 17.
The No. 9 ranking is the highest national ranking in the history of the Mustangs’ softball program.
Morningside returns nine starters and the top winner from the pitching staff from last year’s team that compiled a 47-10 record to set a school record for victories en route to it’s first-ever appearance in the NAIA Softball World Series. The Mustangs won Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular season and post-season tournament championships and punched their NAIA Softball World Series ticket by winning the Morningside Bracket of the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.
Morningside is the only team from the GPAC ranked in the NAIA Preseason Top 25.
