Morningside is ranked third in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Spring Top 25 Poll.

Morningside is ranked third in the nation in the 2015 NAIA Football Coaches’ Spring Top 25 Poll released on April 13. 

The Mustangs are coming off a banner 2014 campaign where they posted a 12-2 record and reached the semifinals of the NAIA Championship Series playoffs. Morningside has advanced to at least the semifinals of the NAIA Championship Series each of the last three years, including an appearance in the 2012 Russell Athletic-NAIA Football National Championship Game in Rome, Ga. The Mustangs were 2014 co-champions of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) with an 8-1 record to share the league title with Northwestern College. Morningside has won four consecutive GPAC championships.

Morningside is one of three teams from the GPAC in the NAIA Spring Top 25. Northwestern is ranked 12th and Doane College is 22nd.

Morningside will open the 2015 season with a 1 p.m. game against Sterling College on Sept. 5 in Sterling, Kan., as part of the GPAC/Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Challenge.

The Mustangs have a 112-23 record for a .830 winning percentage since the start of the 2004 season. Morningside has made 11 consecutive post-season appearances in the NAIA Championship Series for the nation’s longest current active streak.
