Mustangs place two on Academic All-America Team
Tim Erdmann and Paul Quildies were each named to the second team of the 2016 College Division Academic All-America Men’s Soccer Team.
Tim Erdmann and Paul Quildies were named to the second team of the 2016 College Division Academic All-America Men’s Soccer Team as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Erdmann, a sophomore goal keeper from Hamburg, Germany, has a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA) with majors in business administration and international affairs. He had a 12-5-1 record with 80 saves, two shutouts, and a goals against average of 1.66 goals per game this season.
Quildies, a sophomore defender from Essen, Germany, has a perfect 4.00 GPA with a major in business administration. His defensive skills helped the Mustangs limit their opposition to averages of 1.65 goals and 10.2 shots per game. Quildies also contributed five points to the Mustangs’ offense with two goals and one assist.
Erdmann and Quildies become the second and third Academic All-Americans in the history of Morningside’s men’s soccer program, joining Cameron Meter, who was a first-team selection in 2012.
Athletes must be of at least sophomore academic status, be a starter or significant reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher to be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
