Morningside was picked second by the league’s head coaches in the GPAC Women’s Soccer Pre-Season Poll.

Morningside College was picked for a second place finish in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) women’s soccer standings by the league’s head coaches in the 2014 GPAC Women’s Soccer Pre-Season Poll.

The Mustangs, the reigning GPAC regular season champion, received two first place votes and 85 points to finish second in the poll behind Hastings College. The Broncos, last year’s GPAC Post-Season Tournament champion, received 98 points and eight first place votes.

Morningside returns 16 letter winners, including five starters, from a team that posted a 14-3-4 record last season, including a 9-0-1 mark in the GPAC to capture the league’s regular season title.

The Mustangs will open the season with back-to-back contests against the University of Jamestown on Aug. 29 and 30 in Jamestown, N.D.
