Morningside was tabbed for a second place finish in the GPAC Baseball Coaches’ Pre-Season Poll.

The Mustangs received a league-high five first place votes and received 86 total points to finish only one point behind Doane, which topped the pre-season poll with 87 points. Doane was last year’s GPAC regular season runner-up with a 12-8 league record en route to an overall 33-15 finish.

Morningside posted a 35-18 record last season and finished third in the GPAC standings with an 11-9 league mark.  

The Mustangs will travel to Joplin, Mo., to open the 2016 season with doubleheaders against Ashford on Feb. 13 and 14.
