NAIA Division II National Champion Morningside College is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Post-Season Poll released on March 25.

The Mustangs, who were also ranked No. 1 in all 11 regular season polls, won their fourth NAIA Division II National Championship under head coach Jamie Sale with a 59-57 victory against Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) rival Concordia University in the NAIA II National Championship Game on March 17 at Sioux City’s Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena to put the finishing touches on a 37-1 season.

Morningside is one of four teams from the GPAC ranked in the final NAIA Division II Post-Season Top 10. Aside from Morningside, Concordia is ranked second, Hastings College is fifth, and Briar Cliff University is 10th. The four GPAC schools comprised this year’s NAIA II Final Four.

Morningside also won NAIA Division II National Championships in 2004, 2005, and 2009. The Mustangs have posted 12 consecutive 20-win seasons and have made 13 consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division II National Tournament.
