The Mustangs’ women’s golf team is in sixth place after the completion of GPAC Qualifier #2.

Morningside’s women’s golf team finished fifth at Monday’s GPAC Qualifier #2 held at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., and moved up three spots in the combined team scoring.

The Mustangs, who finished ninth at GPAC Qualifier #1, are in sixth place with the two spring GPAC Qualifier tourneys remaining.

Morningside carded a team score of 373 at Monday’s GPAC Qualifier #2 to finish four strokes out of fourth place behind Mount Marty and only nine strokes off the pace of the second place score of 364 by Nebraska Wesleyan. Defending league champion Dakota Wesleyan was a runaway winner with a 348.

Morningside is sixth in the combined scoring with a 742. The Mustangs are 21 strokes out of fifth place behind Nebraska Wesleyan.

Callie Anderson led the Mustangs at GPAC Qualifier #2 with an 88 for the seventh best score in the field. Caitlin Fieselman also had a top 15 finish with a 90 to leave her in a tie for 12th. The Mustangs completed their team score with a 94 from Jeicy Rivas Plata and a 101 from Nathalie Sanchez.

Anderson, who also had an 88 at GPAC Qualifier #1, is the Mustangs’ leader in the combined scoring with a two-tourney total of 176 to put her in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings. Fieselman is next with a 184 for a tie for 21st place.

The GPAC Qualifier #2 was Morningside’s final competition of the fall season.
