Morningside’s dance team place fourth at the NAIA Cheer & Dance National Invitational in Fremont, Neb.

Morningside finished fourth in the dance competition and seventh in the cheer competition at the NAIA Cheer & Dance National Invitational held Friday and Saturday in Fremont, Neb.

The Mustang dance team won its way into the national invitational with a first place finish at the NAIA Cheer & Dance North Qualifying Competition held earlier this season in Crete, Neb.

The top four teams at the NAIA National Invitational all came from the North Qualifying Competition. St. Ambrose scored 109.83 points to reign over a 12-team field. Midland was second with 109.45 points, Grand View was third with 107.33 points, and Morningside was fourth with 106.33 points.

Oklahoma City won the cheer competition with 90.45 points. Concordia University of Ann Arbor, Mich., was the runner-up with 89.63 points. Morningside finished seventh with 85 points.
