Freshman Laia Badosa and the Mustang women’s golf team found themselves at the top of the leaderboard after day two of the Great Plains Athletic Conference Women’s Championship at The Bluffs in Vermillion, S.D.

The team shot a 295 during day two on the par 72 course that allowed them to further widen the lead they had captured on Monday, posting a total score of 605. Jamestown finished second with a total score of 655, followed by Dakota Wesleyan with a 658, Northwestern with a 665, and Briar Cliff with a 670.

Badosa, who shot a 78 on Monday, posted a 72 in the second day of play for a total score of 150. That tied her for first with Jade Burr of Dakota Wesleyan. Morningside’s Maria Nava placed third with a total score of 152, and Sam Knight was one stroke behind Nava in fourth place. Alex Mankle placed seventh with a 157, and Maria Zorrilla ended in a three-way tie for 10th place with a 161.

Rounds three and four of play in the GPAC Women’s Golf Championship will come in the spring at the York Country Club, April 26-27, 2019.
