Morningside was tabbed for a third place finish in the GPAC Softball Coaches’ Pre-Season Poll.
The Mustangs received 93 points to finish behind defending champion Doane (121) and Hastings (98) in the coaches’ pre-season poll.
Morningside posted a 27-21 record last season and finished fifth in the GPAC standings with an 11-9 league mark. The Mustangs peaked at the end of the season by posting a 13-4 record over their final 17 games. Morningside just missed a NAIA National Tournament berth when it lost 2-0 to Concordia in the best two of three GPAC Championship Series.
The Mustangs will open the 2016 season at the Cowtown Classic on Feb. 12-13 in Fort Worth, Texas.
