Morningside lost 5-0 against Hastings in the championship match of the GPAC Women’s Tennis Tournament.
Morningside’s bid for a third GPAC Women’s Tennis Tournament championship in the last four years fell short when the Mustangs lost 5-0 against regular season league champion Hastings in Saturday’s title match in Fremont, Neb.
The Mustangs, who dropped a 5-4 verdict against the Broncos during the regular season, finished the season with a 15-4 dual record for their most wins in school history, topping their previous record of 14 wins when they went 14-7 in the 2011-12 campaign.
Hastings won its first-ever GPAC regular season and GPAC Tournament championships. The Broncos improved their record to 9-7 with a 9-0 mark against GPAC opponents and a 0-7 mark outside of the league against NCAA Division I and II competition.
