Morningside defeated  defending GPAC men’s golf champion Northwestern by a four-stroke margin to win the GPAC Fall Golf Qualifier tournament on Oct. 3 at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Tuesday’s scheduled second round was washed out by rain. The GPAC is formulating a plan to make up the 18 holes in the spring.

The Mustangs carded a team score of 293, with Northwestern and Concordia close behind at 297 and 300, respectively.

Ferran Cortilla and Corey Matthey led the Mustangs with rounds of even par 71 to put them in a tie for third place on the individual leaderboard. The Mustangs also counted a 75 from Zach Ward and a 76 from Cody Holck.

Collin Tedesco of Hastings fired a sizzling four-under par 67 for individual medalist honors. Northwestern’s Austin Reitz finished two strokes back at two-under 69.

The results from the combined scoring at the GPAC Fall and Spring Golf Qualifiers will determine the 2016-17 GPAC team and individual champions.
