An eight-minute scoring spree lifted third-ranked Hastings to a 4-1 men’s soccer win against Morningside.

Third-ranked Hastings went on a four-goal scoring spree over an eight-minute stretch when it defeated Morningside 4-1 in Saturday’s GPAC men’s soccer game in Hastings, Neb.

The Broncos scored all four of their goals between the 28 and 37 minute marks of the first half.

Hastings outshot the Mustangs 16-2 in the first half and by a 29-5 margin for the contest.

Morningside scored the only goal of the second half when Murat Turan scored off an assist from Tom Karshuening at the 53:43 mark.

Mustang goal keeper Tim Erdmann came up with 13 saves to tie a career high he first set against Hastings last season.

Hastings remained undefeated with a 13-0 record, including a 5-0 ledger in the GPAC. Morningside, 8-3-1 overall and 2-3 in the GPAC, will host Mount Marty in an 8 p.m. GPAC contest on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
