Morningside finished in third place in a six-team men’s division at the Mustang Invitational bowling tournament held Saturday and Sunday at the Plaza Bowl.

Midland won the team title with a total of 6047 pins. Hastings was second with 5989, followed by Morningside, 5652; Central Missouri State, 5490; Graceland, 5127; and Wayne State, 4555.

Midland also won the women’s team championship with a total of 6007 pins, followed by Hastings, 5633; and Morningside, 3972.

Austin Naylor was Morningside’s top individual finisher in the men’s competition. Naylor knocked down 1282 pins to finish seventh out of 58 bowlers. He averaged 214 with a high game of 254. The Mustangs’ Dylan Malcom also finished in the top 20 with a total of 1147 pins for 17th place. His average was 191 with a high score of 216.

Kaitlyn Pearson led the Morningside with a 24th place finish in the women’s individual standings. Pearson had a total of 929 pins for an average of 155. Her top score was a 181.

The Mustangs will compete in the Glen Carlson Las Vegas Invitational and the Collegiate Shoot-out to be held Dec. 20-23 in Las Vegas, Nev.
