The Mustang men amped up their offense in the second half of Saturday’s match against Mount  Marty, posting a 5-2 Victory in Yankton, S.D.

The Mustangs ended the first half knotted with the Lancers 1-1. The lone score for the Mustangs came from Okan Goegle, a freshman from Bergisch Gladbach, Germany.

Things fired up quickly in the second half after the Lancer’s quickly took a 2-1 lead in the opening minutes. Senior Murat Turan – also of Bergisch Gladback, Germany – provided a swift response to the Lancers’ goal, followed by another goal from Goegle, and two more from Turan for a 5-2 victory.

As a team, the Mustangs accumulated 15 shots on goals compared to the Lancers six. Goalie Tim Erdmann had four saves.

The win moves the Mustangs to an overall record of 4-3-1 (2-0 in the GPAC), while the Lancers fall to 1-3 and 0-1 in the GPAC. The Mustangs return home for a matchup against Concordia on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m.
