Mark Abrams and Tiffany Shepherd were the Mustangs’ top finishers at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships.

Morningside finished 25th in the women’s competition and 29th in the men’s competition at the 2015 NAIA Cross Country National Championships held Saturday in Charlotte, N.C.

Mark Abrams had the Mustangs’ top individual finish. Abrams ran the 8k course in 25:47 to finish 54th out of 326 runner in the men’s race.

Alex Janssen, who joined Abrams on this year’s All-GPAC team, was the Mustangs’ next finisher with a time of 26:33.8 for 143rd place.

Tiffany Shepherd had the top performance for the Mustang women by running the 5k course in 18:51.6 to finish 74th in a field of 321 runners.

Michelle Mumm also finished in the top 100 with a time of 18:57.2 for 86th place.

Morningside qualified both its men’s and women’s teams for the NAIA National Championships for the first time in school history.
