Zach Ward will join the Morningside men’s golf team as a transfer from AIB College of Business.

Morningside men’s golf coach Todd Sapp announced that Zach Ward of Waterloo, Iowa, will join the Mustangs’ next season as a transfer from AIB College of Business.

Ward, who will have sophomore athletic eligibility, comes off a solid freshman campaign at AIB, where he compiled an 18-hole scoring average of 76.8 and helped lead the Eagles to a second place finish at the Midwest Collegiate Conference (MCC) Championships. Ward fired rounds of 74, 72, and 70 for a 216 total to finish in a tie for seventh place in the MCC individual standings.

He had a 79.1-stroke scoring average in the fall before he lowered his scoring average to 74.9 in the spring season.

Ward is a 2014 graduate of Waterloo Columbus Catholic High School, where he helped lead the Sailors to back-to-back Class 2A state championships in 2012 and 2013 and a runner-up finish in 2011.

Ward’s best individual showing at the state tournament came as a sophomore when he carded scores of 76 and 78 to finish in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings with a 154. He finished 13th in the individual standings at the state tournament as a junior with rounds of 77 and 85 for a 162.
