Morningside’s men’s bowling team qualified for the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) Sectional Tournament for the second year in a row.

Morningside’s men’s bowling team finished 23rd at the Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) Sectional Tournament held March 10-12 at Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill.

The Mustangs, who qualified for the ITC sectional tourneys for the second year in a row, knocked down 11,045 pins in their 64 games to finish 82 pins out of 22nd place behind Grand Valley State.

Morningside had several individuals compete in the sectional’s individual qualifying event held on March 10.

Haley Mathes finished 53rd out of 196 women’s competitors with 1113 pins for an average of 185.5 pins per game. Mathes had the Mustangs’ top individual score with a 224 in her second game and also topped the 200-pin mark with a 203 in her second game.

Emma Sonier knocked down 1088 pins for a 181.3 average to finish 75th in the women’s standings.

Alexandra Gluck had a 200 game for the Mustangs with a 209 in her game six finale.

Matthew Hystad had the Mustangs’ top finish in the men’s individual qualifying event with 1140 pins for a 190.0 average to finish 106th in a field of 261 bowlers. Dylan Casper was right behind in 108th place with 1138 pins for a 189.7 average.

Hystad had a pair of 200 games with a 206 in his second game and 202 in the fourth game. Casper topped the 200-pin mark twice with a 201 in his second game and a 212 in his fifth game.

Chandler Losing had the Mustangs’ top score in the individual qualifying event with a 214 in his game six finale.

The ITC Sectional Tournament was the Mustangs’ final competition of the 2016-17 season.
