Michelle Mumm is the 2018 NAIA Midwest Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year.

Michelle Mumm, a senior from Neola, Iowa, was named the 2018 NAIA Midwest Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Mumm is ranked in the top 11 nationally and first regionally in both the 800-meters (2:11.75) and 1500-meters (4:36.47). She is the only woman in the Midwest Region ranked first in two track events.

Mumm won both the 800 and 1500-meter runs at the 2018 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships and her winning time of 4:36.47 in the 1500-meters set a new meet record.

The award winners will be recognized during Wednesday’s opening ceremonies at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only individuals from USTFCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
