Michelle Mumm is the GPAC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Michelle Mumm, a junior from Neola, Iowa, was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 30-Feb. 5.
Mumm was the 1000-meter champion at last Saturday’s Dakota Wesleyan University Alumni Open with a time of 3:00.51 for the fourth fastest clocking in the NAIA so far this season. Her time met the automatic qualifying standard for this season’s NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
Aside from her victory in the 1000-meters, Mumm was the runner-up behind teammate Tiffany Shepherd in the mile run with a time of 5:13.72 that ranks 18th in the NAIA so far this season.
The Mustangs will compete in the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
