Benson, White to Lead Strategic Continuity and Momentum

Sioux City, Iowa—Morningside University announced today that President Dr. Albert Mosley will conclude his service as president effective June 30, 2025, to assume the presidency of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Board of Directors has appointed Board Chair Chad Benson (‘90) as Interim President. Curt White, a long-serving trustee, past Board Chair, and steadfast Morningside advocate, will assume the role of Chair of the Board.

Dr. Mosley joined Morningside in 2022, bringing a spirit of optimism, purpose, and forward-looking leadership. Over the past three years, his presidency helped Morningside gain meaningful momentum across key institutional priorities. He led a campus-wide modernization of technology systems to improve the student and faculty experience, launched a comprehensive fundraising campaign that includes plans for a new business school, and championed the expansion of academic programs and student life initiatives. His leadership has strengthened Morningside’s foundation for long-term impact and success.

“Serving as President of Morningside has been a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Mosley. “This is a place full of blessings, promise, and heart. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and deeply grateful for the support of the board, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and this incredible community. I know Morningside is in great hands and will continue to flourish into the future.”

Board Chair Chad Benson, who now steps in as Interim President, expressed his deep appreciation for Dr. Mosley’s service and reaffirmed Morningside’s forward trajectory.

“Dr. Mosley has served Morningside with energy, grace, and an unwavering belief in our mission,” said Benson. “We thank him for his impact and wish him the very best as he begins a new chapter. Morningside is in motion—and we remain laser-focused on delivering an experience that equips students to thrive in a complex world through innovation, character, community, and purpose.”

Incoming Board Chair Curt White added, “Morningside is in a great place. Chad’s leadership, strategic mindset, and lifelong connection to the university make him the right person to carry the torch during this transition.”

Benson, a 1990 graduate of Morningside and an experienced executive across the business, technology, and financial sectors, will serve as Interim President for a two-year term as the Board evaluates long-range strategic opportunities and timing for the university’s next presidential search.

As Morningside enters this next chapter, the institution remains anchored in its mission to cultivate a passion for lifelong learning and a dedication to ethical leadership and civic responsibility.
